Once the weather gets cooler, I'll be unstoppable. Unless it gets too cold, then I'll be stoppable again.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has unveiled a one-year ban on the use of student-facing generative AI across the city’s public schools through eighth grade,
and restrictions on the use of the technology in high schools.
“The tech industry wants us to believe that A.I.-powered early education is not only inevitable, but necessary.
We do not see it that way,” said Mamdani in a statement.
WTF is sixth form?
Also, you don't hear the phrase "shoulder surfing" much these days. Its heyday was during the 80's and 90's, referring to people who'd hang around banks of payphones at places like airports and attempt to watch people entering (then valuable) long distance calling card numbers.
@petrillic sure why not. I just bought 3000 purple LEDs and a bunch of other things, it’ll arrive in a week or two for the advertised price on LCSC’s web site.
@petrillic on the other hand, the handful of companies authorised to collect the tariffs in the USA are definitely winning.
SO much of math things now are much more intuitive for me than they were as a kid
But I still get static noises when I have to do stuff where radicals interact with each other
Had to tell a student to move onto a different part of his work while I took like 10 minutes to parse how to get from the question to the answer in the answer key
(I can provide the example but like basically I saw it was subtracting polynomial radicals and then promptly forgot order of operations was a thing, and that since radicals are basically division and multiplication I needed to resolve either side of the subtraction symbol first)
Okay took me a minute to find paper but
My gut solution: idfk, I see radicals, I think I gotta be canceling shit out.
Actual solution: order!!! of!!!! operations!!!!!!!! Simplify anything to do with exponents and multiplication before any shit with subtraction!!!
And radicals fall in with exponents for these purposes!!!!!!!

Sometimes it's hard not to be reactive in the replies.
Women get reply guys all the time. In real life & online.
Some have more patience than others. For me, repeated abuse throughout my lifetime has made my skin thinner, not thicker.
So when ppl offer unsolicited advice, or when I don't mention every possible permutation of something up front...if ppl act as if that means I'm ignorant of it or think it unimportant, I can have a reaction that may seem out of proportion to the reply.
But that's because this is cumulative. For people marginalized in one or more ways, in person and online, replies happen against a background of genuinely having one's expertise & work disrespected regularly.
So if you think you're getting blasted without having earned it, it's possible you're right. Maybe. But when replying to marginalized people here, think about that mountain of reply guy stuff first and whether you want to be mistaken for the reply guy that started an avalanche. #9ReplyGuys
So pennies were too expensive to make, but a $1 coin with Trump on it wasn’t?
Republicans are the biggest bunch of bootlicking snotsuckers…

Applying to be a flight attendant isn't like other jobs; you have to pass extensive background checks through various federal agencies and be subject to random drug testing to get and keep this job. They keep medical documentation.
I can't imagine all the info Spirit has on their employees, only to sell it for $10 million. It's disgusting.
@mattblaze @paul_ipv6 (Matt, reading my reply just wanted to be clear that I was saying you are an expert and know of what you speak, not that you would ever use that skill badly … you’re my model of the ethical white hat.)
@carlmalamud @paul_ipv6 So everyone thinks...

@topstories funny how this keeps happening.
NEW: For decades, Idaho laws have allowed parents who belong to the Followers of Christ and other faith-healing sects to pray rather than seek medical care.
Since 2015, at least 15 children have died of treatable conditions.

In several states, the FLDS withholds medical treatment to hide child abuse, sexual assault, & incest.
No one's religion should be permitted to shield sexual predation.
